Adjusting entry to record the earned but unpaid salaries of employees at the end of the accounting period?

I believe it should be Debit Unpaid Salaries and credit Salaries Payable is this correct? the only thing is when your crediting I am actually minusing in the account even though a little confused with salaries payable but I still think this is correct can you explain?
