Friends laugh at me because I don't like gory movies?

I think they are just gross and the plots of most of them are stupid. However, both of my friends are huge fans of them and that's all the movies they ever go to see, which leaves me out. Whenever I invite them to go see something like a romance or drama they always say no. I do like scary movies, like the ones that mess you up to where you can't sleep at night but they still call me lame. Is there anything I can do? Thanks for your help :)
