Any ideas on how to get a dog to stop tearing up screens?

With spring coming up and with that brings storms, I need some help. I have a 6 year old lab that loves to be outside. However, he is deathly afraid of storms and will tear up our screen windows if we don't get outside before the first clap of thunder hits. It has gotten so bad that the wind just needs to pick up and he's at it. We never ever leave him outside during this weather and him and our other dog spend alot of time inside...they hate being cooped up inside. I just need some ideas on how to teach him to leave the screens alone until we can get out there. Usually, we watch the weather and if one is on its way they get brought in or I'm outside with them since I'd rather be outside than inside. He will even do it when I am out there with him. But I live in Nebraska and storms pop up from out of nowhere. This is the ONLY time he jumps up on the house. If anyone knows of anything I can put on the screens that will help deter him I will be extremely grateful.
