What does it mean to love your woman/lover/girlfriend unconditionally?

What are some of your explanatory details to this question. My lover says that it is impossible to love your "partner unconditionally". She says you can only love your family or your kids that way, not your lover/partner. I don't agree with this because what love I have for her is ineffable to explain in words. Words can't even describe the way I feel for this woman. And No, I'm not infatuated with her or blinded buy her beauty; I know who she is, in and out, negative and positive, and I love this woman with all me heart and soul.
