Anyone care to share their experiences with Mirena?

I have yet to become ually active, so this may seem a little odd, but I've been thinking about getting the Mirena birth control device (I'm in college and this is the last year on my parent's health insurance). Because I'm not having now, I'm mostly interested in it for the potential positive effects on my menstrual cycle (it tends to be heavy and last a while, with terrible cramps and discharge the rest of the month) and I'm wary of oral contraceptives. And of course I hope to find the right guy in the next few years and it would be nice to already have my birth control situation sorted out beforehand. Does anyone have any personal experiences they'd be willing to share?
